US Broadband companies go to congress for stimulus money. Yay!? or Nay!?
Looks like another industry in America wants some taxpayer moneys too. This times it's the broadband companies like Comcast, Verizon, and Quest. US broadband speeds are already dirt slow compared to the rest of the industrialised nations. Take Japan for instance. Comcast's speeds - 0.256 Mbps downstream and upstream. Japan's average speeds - 92.8 Mbps. A huge! Difference when it comes down to it. Now, recently Comcast has stepped up a little bit and has started to "un-clog" the pipes. But still. My biggest question is what ever happened to the billions of dollars we invested into fiber optic lines being laid across the US for 50Mbps internet by 2009? Sure we might be seeing a little here and there, but we are still paying an arm and a leg. It just doesn't make any sense. Hopefully the FCC doesn't give these jokers any stimulus, until they start actually giving a crap about their customers. -Numlocks |
